Esmee Hawkey to make GT Cup debut in new Porsche Cayman
Monday 25 January 2016
Young up-and-coming driver Esmee Hawkey will make her debut in the 2016 GT Cup when the championship starts at Donington Park on the 23rd April.
The 17-year old will be entered by Porsche specialists GT Marques and will run in the new for 2016 Cayman GT4 Clubsport. The former Ginetta Junior runner from Chislehurst in South East London will begin testing in March, soon after the delivery of the car.
“It’s completely new,” said Esmee. “I’m excited for what’s about to come and to get started in the car and see how it handles. I’ve been driving a Ginetta for the past one and half years so this is a completely new car and of course it’s a new championship for me. We’ve got some testing lined up for when the car comes at the beginning of March and we will probably be going to Spain for the three day Cartagena test. I can’t wait to get in it and see how it goes. I want to be at the front and do as well as possible.”
“We’re looking forward to getting started,” added GT Marques Team boss Paul Mace. “As specialists we have only ever run Porsches so it’s really exciting to be running the new Cayman Clubsport GT4 and it’s great to be able to return to the GT Cup.”
If you wish to join Esmee at the Cartagena test on the 11th - 13th March, you can download the booking form here.
